Bank Farm Leisure, Gower

Updated: Jul 19, 2018

Beautiful views, sea, sand and plenty of relaxation. The Gower is a gem on the South Wales coast. We stayed for a two night break at Bank Farm, Horton, which is a 5 minute drive from Port Eynon and Horton beachfront. Overlooking the beach, the views of the coastline are absolutely amazing. Our choice of accommodation was a holiday bungalow, although you can try the glamping pods, bring your caravan/motorhome or even bring a tent, whatever suits you best. The site itself is spacious and well laid out, with designated areas clearly indicated, the site is also very well cared for and all areas, including accommodation, facilities and grounds have excellent levels of cleanliness.

The bungalows are semi detached, with two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Ours had bunk beds as well as a single bed in the second bedroom, therefore easily accommodating 2 adults and three children. Each bungalow has an open plan kitchen area, dining table, a lounge area, with two settees, TV/DVD player built in and coffee table. A small hallway leads to the bathroom, with bath and electric overhead shower, a cupboard, housing a hoover, clothes airer, ironing board and iron. The kitchen whilst small, houses a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, plenty of storage space, cutlery and plates/dishes, cups/glasses and a cooking area with pans. You are even provided with washing up liquid, a dish cloth and tea towel. Situated just 5 minutes walk away from the main facilities, the bungalows are in a quiet area with lots of open areas for children to play safely within eye sight. Free wifi is available in the main building and you can purchase additional wifi for outside of this area for a small fee.

As you can see from the photo above the site is dog friendly, you pay a small additional fee for bringing your dog, all the site owners ask is that dogs are kept on a lead and that you clean up after them, disposing of dog mess responsibly in the bins provided.

Be aware that you are unable to walk your dog on the beach at Port Eynon and Horton during the summer months but the beach to the left of Horton Village is dog friendly and there is a car park available if you don't fancy walking down through the village. You can access this area by walking past the Lifeboat station and turning left as soon as you reach the beach.

Bank Farm boasts a lovely clubhouse, where you can relax and enjoy a cold or hot drink, food is served daily and plentiful. We ordered a prawn cocktail starter and it is honestly the biggest prawn cocktail I have ever been presented with, the quantity and quality of foods is very good, along with a speedy service. I struggled to eat it all so luckily Joe helped me out ;) The staff on site are super friendly and helpful, making sure you enjoy your stay and on hand with any questions you may have.

Bank Farm hosts regular entertainment which is listed on their website or facebook page.

Other amenities at the site include; main reception (where you check in upon arrival and checkout), an onsite shop selling gifts, food, beach accessories, launderette, café, swimming pool (heated), toilets/shower block, tennis court and chemical disposal area. There are numerous places where you can access cold water if needed.

Visit the café for a selection of gorgeous ice-creams, very refreshing on a hot day :)
