Mamlouk Palace, Hurghada

Updated: Aug 31, 2018

We had a lovely stay at the Mamlouk in November upon arrival we were greeted at the entrance with flannels, to cool us down. Luggage was left at the entrance and we were shown to a seat to complete reservation forms , once this was done we were taken to our room by a porter who pointed out the restaurants, bars etc., Luggage was brought to our room by porters very quickly after we confirmed we were happy with the room.

The hotel and grounds were very clean and well kept. There are two pools, one heated which was lovely and warm and a separate unheated pool, both very clean with lifeguards available at all times.

Rooms were a good size and cleaned daily with excellent service by the room cleaners. There is tea and coffee making facilities in each room however there was no milk supplied and we had to request milk to be put in the fridge. Tea, coffee and bottled water were supplied daily. Our room was on the first floor and unfortunately didn't have a double bed, but we pushed the two (large) singles together. There was a small balcony, which had two chairs and a table, overlooking the snack bar and pool area .

The restaurant had plenty of choice of foods and the A La Carte restaurants were delightful, well worth experiencing. The booking system only allows you to book 24 hours in advance and it would be useful if you could book further ahead in order to plan your week. You'll find the reservation machine in reception. You can use the restaurant in the hotel next door but we did not try this. We found the staff at the pool snack bar amazing, they couldn't do enough for you. Special thanks to Mohamaed, Bahr Saeed, Ahmed Ali, Karam and Safy for make our stay enjoyable.

There was entertainment available throughout the day and evening , we preferred a quieter stay and were able to find this if we wanted to get away from the noise. Reception and the terrace bar could get busy in the evenings but was a lovely place to sit and chat away to other guests. Almost forgot, the shisha by the beach is lovely and well worth a visit.

The hotel has its own beach area, with plenty of sunbeds available, as our stay was late November into early December, I personally found it quite chilly on the beach and too cold to go into the sea. But others did not seem to worry about this and were happily swimming and snorkelling. There is a jetty that you can walk to on the right side of the beach, we found an area halfway up the jetty that had a concrete slope into the sea You can walk out ankle deep into the sea and will come to a coral reef which is a good spot for snorkelling.

During our winter season, there are strong winds in Hurghada so its well worth taking a jumper or sweatshirt to keep you warm. It's not cold enough for jackets but you will need to cover up if you plan on being outside.

Overall we were very impressed by the hotel and the exceptional staffing.
